PTC '05 Introduction

PTC '05 Broadband and Content: From Wires to Wireless is the milestone theme for PTC's January 2005 Conference.

Bruce DrakeInformation and Communication Technology (ICT) is on the rebound, and PTC's annual conference is the place to gain insight into its future. The adoption and implementation of multiple forms of wireless communication is transforming how we work and play. VoIP alone in 2004 is expected to grow at an annual rate of over 30 percent and is forecast to expand to create a worldwide market of nearly $300 billion U.S. by 2008.  Take advantage of the Pacific's premier networking ICT conference to learn how these developments could impact you and your organization.

Content and usage is expanding and filling the broadband capacity. How will this impact on infrastructure? Who will build it and who will pay for it? Determining the value of that content, its mode of delivery and the potential returns will be key topics at the PTC'05 forums.

What roles will ICT industries play in light of the ever-increasing adoption of the Internet for education, health, government and e-commerce? Alternatives will be reviewed and debated in meetings with industry leaders and implementers. These subjects are part of the agenda of the executives of Asian governments. What do they envision is ICT's role in their future growth? What technologies do they believe can help them meet their national goals, and how could their initiatives affect your interests? Learn the answers to these questions and more as some of the new century's most dynamic and innovative economies discuss their priorities at PTC'05.

Our mandate is to have the ICT audience engage the ever-expanding issues of not just content, access and use, but of future demand. The questions of security, privacy, regulatory concerns and delivery systems will be broached as well as what will happen to the legacy companies such as the Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS).

PTC conferences are renowned for the diversity of perspectives, expertise and economies represented, and for the opportunity we provide to forge key partnerships. Over 50 nations were represented at PTC'04, and we expect significant growth for PTC'05. Corporate leaders including CEOs, CFOs and CIOs will offer their perspectives on the future. Top academics and government officials will provide viewpoints that can help shape strategies. Find out who will invest in research and development in software, hardware and infrastructure and what payback is anticipated, as well as alternate views.

PTC '05 is the ICT venue for face-to-face networking, workshops, roundtables and special-interest activities such as satellite and submarine forum sessions. Meeting and talking to your allies and competitors will give you a unique personal perspective on what is happening and what is expected to happen. The presentations and exhibits, exchange of ideas, concepts, results, uses, inspirations, aspirations and financial investments are subjects that can only be absorbed by direct contact.

It is precisely because the current drive from Wires to Wireless is so frenetic that you need to join us at PTC'05. Listen, see, meet and exchange views with those who are leading the way towards the future of ICT, and experience firsthand the benefits of networking at PTC.

Mahalo from Hawaii!  We look forward to seeing you at PTC'05!
