This year’s theme, Telecom with Vision, focused on the dramatic impact of interactive video and user-created content on telecommunications networks, markets and regulatory policy throughout the Asia-Pacific regions and around the world.

PTC’08: A Great Success

The 30th anniversary PTC'08 conference was the best in years according to many participants who commented on the renewed energy of PTC. With a 20% increase in registration from last year and a new set-up in the lounge and Pavilion along with many new features incorporating networkers and a meeting system, the conference had an outstanding appeal and dynamism.

Exhibitors and pavilion meeting participants agreed that it was well worth their effort in terms of new and significant business leads. Senior-level sessions provided insights to the industry across the Asia-Pacific region unavailable at any other event. Companies participating in the conference suite location signage experienced higher volumes of meetings and business leads. Fantastic receptions held outdoors beachside and poolside in the gorgeous, gently cool evenings of Hawaii in January rounded out this signature event at the start of the year.

Of course as at any event, there are areas that can be improved and we appreciate all the comments and suggestions provided by members, especially during the Members Meeting on 16 January. Senior level panels provided an unparalleled opportunity to hear from the very top in the industry and from across North America and the Asia-Pacific region. An impressive line-up of over 100 senior level leaders (CEO, COO, CTO, Executive Vice-Presidents, etc.) participated in program sessions giving their frank assessment of the direction of the industry, often right alongside their competitors on the same panel.

One of PTC’s strengths, unlike many other conferences, is its open forum approach in areas of both cooperation and competition.
