BG & AC Elections
PTC Needs Leaders
We have recently sent out an email requesting nominations
for PTC's leadership bodies - the Board of Governors (BG)
and the Advisory Council (AC). You should have received
an invitation to nominate for either or both of these bodies.
Please consider offering yourself, or perhaps nominating someone
else whom you think is well-qualified.
After the nominations have been received, the Succession
Planning Committee will be organizing elections for BG and
AC. The elections will commence in mid-October and close in
early November, with the results announced shortly thereafter.
Those elected to the BG and the AC will take up their terms
next January.
Here’s your opportunity to help shape PTC’s future
direction! We want to encourage new faces as well as more
experienced PTC Members to nominate. As our dynamic industry
evolves, PTC benefits by innovation and fresh ideas and this
election process can be the mechanism to achieve this.
Naturally, successful election to one of PTC’s governing
bodies will require your commitment of time and energy. In
return, you’ll have an opportunity to help lead a great
organization which is the pre-eminent forum in this region.
Such contributions bring their own rewards, as well as outstanding
opportunities for networking with other leaders and members.
So please start thinking now about nominating yourself or
a colleague. We need people with industry and professional
experience, integrity and judgment. Representation on the
BG and AC is by regions (Hawaii, Oceania, South/Southeast
Asia, East Asia, North America, and Central/South America)
and categories (non-profit and for-profit, individuals), reflecting
the diversity that has been the hallmark of the PTC and which
we seek to preserve.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to
contact either of us on the Succession Planning Committee.

Board of
Governors' Corner
September begins the "home stretch" toward PTC's
annual conference, our signature event. We all know that there
are thousands more members of our community who "lurk"
around the edges of PTC but do not register, sponsor or exhibit.
This makes it harder for the community we draw to know who's
in Honolulu with whom they should be meeting. So in 2007 you
will notice continuing evolution in our conference program
and new opportunities for engagement to bring the lurkers
into our mainstream.
Planet PTC will be restructured to provide opportunities
for registered attendees only to interact both formally and
informally, and PTC will be working with the Hilton to provide
even more opportunities for professional networking within
the PTC "big tent" rather than outside it. A sophisticated
meeting arrangement system for registrants will improve your
networking opportunities. Under Ken Zita's superb leadership
we have an outstanding conference program with sessions of
interest to even the most dedicated networkers. And we have
a variety of packages to encourage our corporate attendees
to register all the people they bring to Honolulu in January
to gain additional benefits.
There are two important things you can do right now to increase
the value you get from PTC:
1) Please carefully review the sponsorship and exhibition
opportunities to identify the program that works best for
you. If you have other ideas on a custom package, please contact
Sharon Nakama at snakama@ptc.org
so we can make PTC work better for you.
2) We are now opening nominations for service on the PTC
Board of Governors and Advisory Council. Please consider whether
you are willing and able to get more involved with PTC, or
think of a colleague who would be appropriate. The article
from our Succession Planning Committee in this Bulletin provides
more details and information. Thanks to Chris Vonwiller and
Tim Logue for spearheading this effort.
It is an honor and pleasure to serve as your President. If
you have any thoughts on how we can make PTC work better for
you, don't hesitate to let me know.
