Conference Program Abstract 2006 was supposed to be a banner year in the growth and development of Internet Protocol Television, or IPTV, around the world. While there have been many positive signs for IPTV, including increased subscribers in Asia, Europe and North America, questions remain about the ability of IPTV to compete with entrenched pay-TV services such as cable and satellite direct-to-home (DTH). Equally important are questions about the role of satellite in delivering IPTV content, and the challenges involved in turning IPTV into a service consumers are demanding versus something the telco industry is promoting and pushing. Brian Skimmons will review some of IPTV’s successes over the past year, provide a growth outlook based on data from leading research groups, and discuss the potential role satellites can play in the IPTV service roll-outs of leading providers in Asia and globally. If you would like to know how your company can take advantage of the rapid growth and industry buzz that IPTV is generating, we invite you to attend this informative session.
