Future of Voice

The voice industry is in the midst of massive transition. Traffic is shifting from traditional fixed line common carriers to mobile operators, Skype and P2P networks, web telephony, cablecos and other non-traditional providers. The measure of a call is morphing from minutes to multimedia sessions. Smartphones, real-time messaging and web telephony are changing end-user behaviour. The arrival of voice peering is transforming wholesale relationships.  The challenges ahead are many.  How does customer sentiment equate with what new technology offers?  Is voice still the driving application in communications?  Which segments of the market present best prospects?  What is the real value of NGN for Voice?  Which business models are sustainable and most likely to succeed?
