Credit Crisis Intensifies Collaboration Among Telecoms

PRESS RELEASE  - 28 October 2008
PTC'09 Looks to Partnerships to Recession-Proof Telecoms Industry

HONOLULU -  In response to the international credit crisis, telecoms have stepped up their level of collaboration with uncommon partners in a strategic move towards recession-proofing. Sharon Nakama, Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC), forecasts a major reduction to the number of costly projects-such as network infrastructure-building-which are financed and operated by just one entity.

Submarine Cable Sessions at PTC'09

Rational Initiatives or New Bubble?

by: John Hibbard, Executive Vice Chair, PTC Board of Governors and CEO, Hibbard   Consulting Pty. Ltd., Australia

Rationality has returned since the hubris of 2000, but this has not stopped competitive builds and the suggestions of excesses akin to a few years ago along with the obvious prognostications that we are headed for another bust.
