Steve Rich is a senior associate in the Corporate Department of Paul Hastings, and is based in the firm’s Washington, DC office. Mr. Rich advises domestic and international clients in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors on a broad variety of transactional and regulatory matters. His experience includes matters involving U.S. and foreign regulations applicable to satellite operators, wireline carriers, and other telecommunications service providers; drafting and negotiating commercial telecommunications agreements; and state and federal licensing proceedings.
Mr. Rich has served as a co-editor of the United States chapter of the Sweet & Maxwell looseleaf Global Telecommunications Law and Practice, and has authored and co-authored articles that have appeared in the World Internet Law Report, the Federal Communications Law Journal, and SatMagazine. He also has spoken on Internet and telecommunications-related issues at PTC in 2005, 2007, and 2008, at the ChinaTel Summit + VC Forum in Honolulu in 2007, and at the Communications & Technology Connections Digital Domain 2006 program series in Washington, DC. He has been quoted in the media, including Telecommunications Online, in relation to telecommunications- and technology-related issues.
Mr. Rich received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Missouri State University. He received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington in 1998, where he was an Articles Editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal. Mr. Rich also holds an Area Certificate in West European Studies from the Indiana University Graduate School and a Certificat d´administration publique from the University of Paris XI Jean Monnet School of Law.
Mr. Rich previously worked as an in-house attorney for Cable & Wireless, for whom he worked in both northern Virginia and London, and also practiced telecommunications law in the Washington offices of other law firms.
