PTC’11 Review by Jay Gillette in Networked World

Aloha! Welcome to PTC’11

Now approaching our 33rd consecutive annual conference, the Pacific Telecommunications Council looks forward to welcoming our members and all professionals in telecommunications and ICT endeavors to PTC’11.

This year, challenges and opportunities abound.  While we begin to recover from the worldwide economic recession, tremendous new opportunities are presenting themselves and organizations throughout the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide are well into capitalizing on them.

From major implementations in broadband networks expanding robust connectivity to the opportunities of cloud services on the leading edge of developments, PTC’11 will again be abuzz with significance as ramifications for business strategy, network capabilities and partnerships are explored.

PTC’11 offers an important and substantial platform for understanding where we are and for providing insights to where we may be heading. As is our tradition in providing forward thinking, this year’s theme “Connecting Life 24/7″  presents the opportunity to examine how telecom is changed and challenged by always-connected users.  We are also conscious of the major challenges not only in developed economies, but also continuing efforts to connect the unconnected and to provision appropriate systems and services in developing economies.

PTC’s large “tent” includes a broad range of telecommunications and ICT interests at the most senior level. The draw of one of the best conferences anywhere will again provide an important arena for extensive business meetings. All of this is on one campus at the Hilton Hawaiian Village providing a unique opportunity to mix and meet, learn and share, as well as promote and deal.

Attendance at PTC’11 is essential for everyone moving forward with exciting developments in the coming year.  We look forward to seeing you in January!
