President's Welcome Message
The Pacific Telecommunications Council welcomes our members and all professionals in telecommunications and ICT endeavors to PTC’13, our 35th consecutive annual conference. The theme this year is "Capacity, Capability, Collaboration," three keys to building momentum and success in the new year.
Capacity: Continued economic expansion is driving the demand for data intensive applications as well as the growth of broadband markets, especially in the Asia-Pacific hemisphere. The right capacity in the right place at the right time and the right price are vital profit drivers.
Capability: This growth creates added demands for innovation and flexibility in technologies, systems design, investment, business plans, and marketing to capture the value flowing through the network from transport, services, and content providers.
Collaboration: Operating in an integrated information ecosystem requires collaboration up and down the value chain, between policy makers and markets; across networks, and with cloud, applications and content providers.
This year's theme resonates across a wide range of interests, offering a broad scope to explore through expert speakers, presentations, and papers; and we are looking forward to an exciting conference exploring the ramifications of these developments not just for business, but for advancing PTC's public interest goals of promoting social and economic development in the region.
Once again, the beautiful Hilton Hawaiian Village is the conference venue. The hotel's scale and its attractive and convenient facilities provide an array of resources for business meetings ranging from intimate to large groups. Every year, the PTC conference is one of the most productive and enjoyable conferences anywhere.
2013 promises to be an exciting and challenging year. The PTC Secretariat staff, as well as the Board and all the other volunteers in PTC leadership positions, have worked hard to bring you truly useful information, as well as a business-friendly environment. Enjoy the program!
We look forward to seeing you in January!
