
PTC Executive Director Search
At its January 17, 2007 meeting, the Pacific Telecommunications
Council's Board of Governors decided to open a search for
a new PTC Executive Director.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- leading PTC to improved financial success
and stability;
- serving as the public
face for PTC;
- defining and delivering the value of PTC
to key constituents including members, sponsors, institutional
partners, attendees, "networkers" and
other industry and policy leaders;
- lead the planning and management
of an exceptional annual conference and, as directed by
the PTC Board of Governors, of regional and mid year conferences,
featuring leaders in the many sectors and domains that
have formed the PTC community over the past 30 years, as
well as to new communities that will be important to PTC
in the future;
- collaboratively planning
content appropriate for the premiere annual ICT conference
in the Pacific, as well as other PTC events;
- enhancing the
value of PTC activities and events to members and participants
while increasing revenue opportunities for PTC;
- supporting a professional non-profit Secretariat in the
execution of its duties; developing innovative
solutions to improve governance, increase membership and
membership engagement in PTC activities.
Applications will
be reviewed with particular consideration given to the degree
of:
- experience directing international non-profit organizations
in general and PTC and telecom and ICT-related organizations
in the Asia-Pacific region in particular;
- a proven track record in planning and directing international
conferences;
- a proven track record selling significant sponsorship
or advertising
relationships with first-tier corporations in PTC's sphere
of influence;
- broad subject matter expertise in international telecommunications,
information technology, media, internet development, technology
policy and related fields;
- cultural, political, technological and economic familiarity
with the Asia-Pacific region; and
- proven executive capacities
and experience which demonstrate,
in particular, the following competencies:
- teamwork, partnership,
and co-operation;
- experience
and success leading an international non-profit organization
with member governance;
- creativity
in achieving financial success;
- oral and written communication
skills;
- initiative;
- flexibility;
- leadership
and supervisory excellence;
- experience in collaboratively
planning and creating compelling content for events
for an international ICT community.
Although the PTC Executive Director has
historically been a full-time employee
of the organization, based in Honolulu,
Hawaii, the Board does not consider this
an absolute requirement. Consequently,
the Board of Governors will consider other alternatives,
provided that its objectives can be achieved. Therefore,
applications which propose other feasible
solutions will also be considered.
Applications should include a résumé,
references and financial requirements associated
with the applicant's approach, along with
a cover letter that describes the applicant's
specific ideas and capabilities to lead
PTC to greater success.
