PTC: How can corporations and researchers best serve the next generation?
DD: Corporations and researchers have a joint responsibility to advance access to sustainable, resilient energy solutions. At APR Energy, I see firsthand the positive effects of working with local partners and experts to deploy innovative technology and provide training. By sharing research insights and promoting collaborative pilot projects, we support future-focused solutions that are not only reliable but also informed by best practices from around the world. At APR, we make an effort in the areas in which we work to empower local teams, upskill staff, and leave a lasting foundation for growth. Supporting the next generation is about equipping communities with sustainable resources and practical knowledge for long-term progress.
PTC: What network-related development will have the greatest impact in our industry?
DD: A major challenge facing our industry is how to quickly and reliably connect new power to networks, especially as demand outpaces traditional grid expansion. The most transformative network-related development is the emergence of scalable, mobile gas turbine solutions that can be delivered and integrated within weeks. At APR Energy, these technologies allow utilities to bridge power gaps, respond to emergencies, and provide stability while permanent infrastructure is built or upgraded. The rapid deployment and flexibility of mobile power plants directly address bottlenecks in interconnection and enable critical services to stay online, redefining what is possible in network resilience.
PTC: Is it important for companies to continue to innovate their organization or offerings, and why?
DD: In my experience at APR Energy, ongoing innovation is essential because energy needs and technologies are always evolving. Our industry faces unpredictable challenges, whether from shifts in regulation, sudden outages, or changes in customer requirements. To keep communities and organizations resilient, we focus on updating our solutions and investing in new technologies, such as mobile gas turbines that can be rapidly shipped and installed within days anywhere in the world. By prioritizing speed, flexibility, and operational efficiency, we help ensure people get reliable electricity when and where it matters most. For me, innovation is not just about technology; itโs central to building strong teams and maintaining the trust of partners and clients worldwide.
PTC: What value does PTC hold for you/your company?
DD: PTC offers significant value for APR Energy as a hub connecting experts across ICT, infrastructure, and energy markets. Through this network, I am able to learn from and partner with thought leaders who are solving similar challenges. These connections keep us informed about the latest industry trends, regulatory updates, and partnership opportunities. By taking part in PTC dialogues and initiatives, our team gains fresh perspectives that help us adapt our offerings for clients and communities worldwide. In my view, PTC supports APR Energyโs mission by expanding our reach and encouraging continuous improvement through collaboration.
PTC: How does PTC fit your companyโs goals or career purpose?
DD: Participation in PTC is aligned closely with both my own goals and APR Energyโs strategic vision. The PTC community emphasizes global collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation. Through this platform, I can stay ahead of emerging trends and contribute to big-picture conversations shaping our industry. PTCโs focus on network expansion and technology reflects the heart of APR Energyโs business model; bringing fast, flexible power to new markets and underserved communities. I value PTC for providing a space to develop leadership, spark creative solutions, and build relationships that support our mission and professional growth.
PTC: What advice would you share with current and future graduates interested in this field?
DD: My advice to new graduates is to stay curious and be ready to adapt quickly. The energy field changes fast, and meaningful progress happens when you embrace new technology and take on unfamiliar challenges. At APR Energy, I have seen that those who learn by doing, seek out mentors, and contribute actively have the biggest impact. Find opportunities to work alongside diverse teams and gain hands-on experience in both technical and operational roles. Most importantly, know that energy projects make a difference. If you bring enthusiasm and a forward-thinking mindset, you will help drive real change locally and globally.
PTC: What has been a positive outcome organizationally or individually given the current state of the world?
DD: A positive outcome for APR Energy, and for myself as a leader, has been our ability to respond effectively during global disruptions and crises. Most recently, we supported Baja Californiaโs grid in Mexico, bringing relief during the peak of summer. Our turnkey, mobile power solutions have allowed us to maintain support for essential services even when traditional supply chains or grid networks are stressed. Personally, I have developed new ways to lead teams across time zones and manage projects that require quick thinking and resourceful planning. For APR Energy, these skills have translated into closer alignment, improved performance, and greater resilience as we continue to serve industries and communities worldwide.
