Aloha! Greetings to everyone from the Succession Planning Committee (SPC).

It is that time of year again, where the SPC is ramping up to support the PTC elections for the Board of Governors (BG) and the Advisory Council (AC).

The SPC is established under the AC and is chartered with finding qualified candidates for election to the BG and AC. The SPC is advisory in nature but establishes a set of procedures to ensure the widest possible participation of PTC Members for nominations and voting. As with any organization, there are both formal and informal roles. The formal charge is to “advise the Board of Governors.” The informal role is to develop PTC’s leadership. That happens in several ways, including the task of identifying candidates to run for BG and AC elections, and we can use your help in identifying candidates. Let folks on the BG, AC, or SPC know if you think of a good person to support PTC. Members can support candidates by contacting other members and asking for their support.

PTC bylaws allow a maximum of 14 Governors for the Board and 38 elected AC Advisors. This year, five (5) BG positions and 25 AC positions are open for nomination and election. About three months prior to the PTC Annual Conference in January, members will be requested to nominate for the BG or AC. Nominations can be self or through another member. About two months prior to the Annual Conference in Hawaii, the ballot will be distributed to PTC Members for voting. The election will then go through a certification process and the results will be announced prior to the PTC Annual Conference.

Joining the AC or BG is among the best ways for members to add value for PTC, helping the organization create and sustain its programs. Moreover, joining is a great way to learn more about the organization and how your specific skills and knowledge can advance PTC’s mission.
