PTC Broadband Reports
The PTC Broadband Reports initiative aims to provide key decision-makers, industry professionals, and other stakeholders with a knowledge base for developing common methods and approaches to best serve the needs of citizens and bridge the knowledge divide.
Each Report will concentrate on an individual micromarket and offer insights about the key features that will push broadband forward in other non-obvious emerging markets with different dynamics and resources throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Editor: Elizabeth Fife, Co-Chair, Research Committee, PTC and Associate Director, Industry Studies, Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM), Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California
Led by editor Elizabeth Fife, Broadband in Fiji: A Micromarket Case Study is the result of a large-scale collaboration between members of the PTC Research Community and the broader PTC Community. In this unique effort, the Report’s contributors combine current descriptive information with a rigorous academic approach.
This first PTC Broadband Report provides an in-depth analysis of Fiji’s current broadband environment, including the issues, challenges, and opportunities concerning broadband deployment in the country and elsewhere across Asia-Pacific.
Key questions addressed in the Report include:
- How can demand and the market environment best be cultivated?
- Who will pay for and maintain the infrastructure? How will commercial viability be achieved?
- To what extent can models from other markets provide insight?
- What lessons from Fiji are relevant to other markets?
