Rumi Iizuka engages in research activities on radio spectrum management in terms of policy and regulation in foreign countries. Her current research activities include spectrum sharing policy, public sector spectrum release, spectrum license fee systems, spectrum assignment for public safety-LTE, and relaxation of regulations for 920 MHz band RFID.

She has been an expert committee member with the Information and Communications Council (ICC) of the Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) since January 2009, and currently participates in three committees for ITU-R’s terrestrial service, land wireless communications, and technical strategy.

She holds a master’s degree in sociology from Japan Women’s University.
